The ECA began as a program part of the Unified Technology and Agricultural Program (UTAP) Africa in 2004. The organization was revitalized as a separate organization in 2014, and obtained nonprofit status in 2022. Founder Joseph Ramsey, PhD, remains an advisor.

o All African Family Reunion- an outdoor event bringing persons of African descent from all nations for fellowship, cultural exchange, and networking.
o Mandela Fellows Reception-a local welcome reception for African dignitaries from the foreign leadership exchange program the Mandela Washington Fellows.
o Co-sponsored events-meet more interesting business people to spark great ideas. Partnerships with government, public, and private entities focused on assisting underutilized businesses of African descent.

A business-to-business trade directory of members and approved businesses. Members have searchable access to find suppliers, partners, and more.
